Take three photos showing 1) Horizontal, 2) Vertical, and 3) Diagonal lines. These can be used in more than one photo each. One photo should include contrasting lines, one should show an affinity of line.
1.

I took this image because it combines both horizontal and vertical line. We can see vertical lines in the blinds and furniture and horizontal lines from the furniture and brick work. The flat space of this area always surprises me and I think that it enhanced by the way that the horizontal and vertical lines live independently. I tried to capture the contrast between the line types, but I think that all of the affinity still wins out in a lot of ways. My eyes are drawn from the top of the image and caught at the wall and table. These lines move effectively but I am not sure that they represent contrast of line in quite the way that I was hoping.
2.

Grocery shopping doesn't always give a good natural situation for less-traditional lines. Or maybe it does and I have only just noticed. In either case this image struck me with it's vertical and horizontal lines which move your eye around the image geometrically. I love the way that the odd shaped items like the round cans create the effect of lines with their rhythm. In this image I tried to capture a natural representation of contrast in line and I feel good about it. The image lacks the punch of overlapping or directly converging lines but still feel nice and unique.
3.

In this photograph my goal was to represent natural diagonal lines. This image also shows affinity of line as nearly all of the lines created by the crates, tags, and stands are diagonal and dissecting the frame at the same angle. I was trying to show diagonal lines in a place where we see them often but without realizing it. These crates create uniform lines that direct our eyes down to their contents and to their sister crates below. I find the way that these lines direct our eye to be interesting and subtle. Their movement works and despite all that is going on in the image they manage to slide us diagonally down the frame.

I love your first image, it's something that could be so normal in passing but looks really nice in the way you've framed it. I also wouldn't think to take photos while I'm grocery shopping either, and I think those are interesting.
