Your photos should show 1) Affinity of color, 2) Contrast of color (use complimentary colors), and 3) Warm or Cool.

While I was out this weekend I saw this dying foliage and was struck by the affinity of color and tone that the entire mountain showed. The way that the camera captured that affinity came through overly flat, but you can still get a sense for the warmth of the image. Were I to shoot this again, I think I would try a medium to emphasize the color more clearly.

In this image I have both affinity of color and warm colors. As I was looking for a good example of warm colors I was struck by the way that the furniture in this room share the same hue. In conjunction with the tungsten lighting the warm colors of the room really jump out when the cool colors are completely removed from the image.

This final image is an attempt at capturing color contrast. I like that the green and orange of the bowls is really punchy and gives some contrast, but I am unhappy that I didn't have a more artistic way to convey the contrast due to time constraints. I was drawn to this subject because of the color. I don't particularly like orange personally but the way that it sits next to green makes for an intense image.
